Development of Imaging Probes and Tests on Animal Models
Objectives

The Torino Technological and Training Platform includes two sites: The Molecular Imaging Center at the University of Torino (Partner 2) and the Integrated Laboratory of Advanced Methodologies (LIMA) at the Bioindustry Park (BiPCa - Colleretto Giacosa, 55 Km north of Torino). Trainings will be carried out at the University of Torino with the assistance of coordinator and teams from the workpackage "Imaging Probes" (WP N°2).

To establish a European network for training both scientists and students, in the preparation of Imaging Probes and cellular/animal models. The University of Torino Imaging Platform will organize activities in the field of:

  • Preparation of Imaging Probes;
  • "In-vitro" assessment of physico-chemical properties of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Probes;
  • Set-up of protocols using cell-cultures;
  • Construction of animal models

Equipment available

Both sites are well equipped for the synthesis, characterization and testing of Imaging Probes : Organic synthesis lab, HPLC, 2D-Electrophoresis, Mass Spectrometers, High field spectrometers (two equipped with m-imaging), FC-Relaxometer, MR-Imager (7.0 T and 0.2 T), cell culture lab.

SMEs integration

The TTP will have an interaction with BIOSPACE; in particular, it will receive a SPECT instrumentation to be used for testing and validating the Imaging Probes for SPECT developed by the participating teams of WP2.

Training

The training could be done with groups of max 5 scientists/students. If more scientists/students are attending, training sessions may be duplicated. The entire training activities take from 3 full man.months and 1 month of laboratory time for the first year, involving both postdoc and technical staff time, to 6 full man.months and 5 months of laboratory time for the following years, training sessions will be progressively added over the duration of the project.
